Elders are busy people (just talk to any one of them!). And if you are going to be an effective shepherd of God’s people, you must learn how to manage your time so the joy of serving the Lord is not crushed by the burdens of life and ministry.
Many good men have wiped out from stress caused by the responsibilities and burdens a typical elder carries. We can’t control other people’s expectations of us, but we can control our response to the demands on our time. In that sense, time management is self management.
Our two-part Time Management series will help you gain a handle on the biblical mandate to manage or redeem your time well. These videos cover:
- Common pitfalls: How to avoid addiction to people pleasing and “the tyrrany of the urgent”
- Goals: Setting them and having a plan to reach them
- Life mission: Writing a personal mission statement that will shape your decision making at every level
- Daily disciplines: Tangible things you can do each day to help your reach your short-term and long-term goals
This may just be the best investment of time you make to your ministry as an elder.
